Trainer Adam Marcus sends out a pair of debut winners at Durbanville on Saturday and is expecting a decent performance from both.
The two runners concerned are All About Al in Race 6, a MR 80 Handicap over 1250m, and Brianna in Race 7, a MR 86 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1000m.
The word was out that they were expecting a very good run when All About Al first ran, especially since Adam engaged Uncle Anton to ride him in this Maiden Plate over 1200m at Kenilworth.
Although he only managed to beat Captain Dizzy by a 0.40 lengths, a winner has come from that form line while the runner-up then went on to shed his maiden two runs later.
The son of Captain Al is nicely drawn at No 3, which is vital at this track, and Marcus is back on board.
“He’s doing exceptionally well,” said Marcus. “He has come on from his smart debut and I’m hopeful of a competitive run.”
His dangers appear to be Master Of Power and Power Grid.
Brianna seemed to do everything wrong in her first run and still won. Ridden by Luke Ferraris and going off at 20-1, she raced greenly, hung, and still managed to beat Alloway Grove by 3.50 lengths.
This time Keagan de Melo takes the ride and this daughter of Legislate also has the benefit of jumping from No 3 draw.
“Brianna has had a lovely preparation and I think she will enjoy Durbanville. She continues to improve at home.
“She is meeting a competitive field but I’m hoping to be in the places.”
Brett Crawford-trained Social Butterfly with Marcus up looks her main danger.
