Magic Mild backed to sparkle in Bosra Sham

November 2024

Magic Mild can end her campaign on a winning note in the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF 'Bosra Sham' Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket on Friday.

Trained by Clive Cox, this daughter of Havana Grey has been on the go since April, but it is to her credit she has only once finished out of the frame in her five starts.

Beaten a length by the reopposing It Ain't Two on her racecourse bow, Magic Mild reversed that form when securing her second career success at Newmarket in August, with connections suitably encouraged to have a crack at Group Three company.

Magic Mild acquitted herself well in finishing third in the Dick Poole at Salisbury, particularly as the good to soft ground that day did not really play to her strengths.

Testing conditions subsequently scuppered a Cheveley Park Stakes run but with good ground at Newmarket this time, Magic Mild can take advantage and top a decent season in style.

Magnetite is another worth noting in the Cologne's German 2000 Guineas British EBF Novice Stakes.

A son of Frankel out of the exceptional racemare Attraction, he cost 575,000 guineas as a yearling and is a full-brother to the smart Elarqam.

Torrent can turn around recent form with Liam Swagger in the Weatherbys nhstallions.co.uk Wensleydale Juvenile Hurdle at Wetherby.

Winner of two of his four hurdles starts for Nigel Hawke, he has finished second on the other two occasions, most recently beaten just over 4-lengths by Liam Swagger.

Torrent was conceding 8lb that day and is in receipt of 3lb this time, giving him a handy pull that could prove crucial.

Genois can build on a decent start for Jonjo and AJ O'Neill by landing the Each Way Extra At bet365 Handicap Chase.

Previously trained by Enda Bolger in Ireland, Genois managed just one win in 17 starts but shaped with much more promise when third on his British bow.

Beaten 6.5-lengths in a novice handicap chase, Genois' rating of 127 looks competitive judged on the pick of his form.

Farnoge lost his way a bit over hurdles last term but looks the type to really find his stride over a fence.

Winner of a bumper and two novice hurdles, he was pulled up when upped to Grade One level in the Challow and when sent to Musselburgh's Cheltenham trials meeting, but he did make some amends with a Listed third to round off his campaign.

Having previously finished second to the classy Better Days Ahead in point-to-point company, he should be followed in the bet365 Novices' Chase.

Another expected to shine first time over fences is the Ben Pauling-trained Personal Ambition at Uttoxeter.

He topped two novice wins with a Grade Two success at Kelso back in March but trailed home a well-beaten last behind Mystical Power at Grade One level at Aintree.

Lookaway was third that day and is Personal Ambition's rival in a match for the Kalahari King Novices' Chase, with Pauling's charge the pick.

The yard also field The Hawkstonian in the Quinnbet Open National Hunt Flat Race.

He is sure to garner plenty of support with the E45,000 purchase owned by a syndicate spearheaded by TV star Jeremy Clarkson.

Down Royal's two-day fixture kicks off with Brighterdaysahead expected to shine in the Bottlegreen Hurdle.

She hacked up in the Mersey Novices' Hurdle at Aintree in the spring and can kick off her campaign in style here. - Press Association
