KOMPHELA: WE HAVEN’T TRAINED IN 10 DAYS!

Friday night saw Moroka Swallows lose 2-1 to Supersport United at the Dobsonville Stadium after taking the lead in the 69th minute through new arrival, Gabadinho Mhango, who netted his 2nd goal of the season, before all Maswaiswai’s hard work collapsed in the dying ambers of the game.

In a game where Gavin Hunt’s Supersport United side had control of the game, United had chances to bury the game a lot earlier before Mhango got the opening goal in the second half.

It’s rather quite surprising to see United struggling to score goals in all competitions following their transfer business that saw duo strikers, Godspower Ighodaro and Terrance Dzvukamanja join the club.

The last 10 minutes of the game saw United find their scoring boots as Tendamudzimu Matodzi and Ighodaro found the back of the net to give United a 2-1 win away from home.

Following the encounter, Steve Komphela gave a scathing report, lambasting the fact that his team hasn’t trained in 10 days leading up to the gruelling encounter against Supersport United. When asked to elaborate further on the matter, the coach opted to not open up on issues that involved the management of the team.

However, Kompela exposed what many already knew about Moroka Swallows’ recent financial history, which has led to many assuming that the issue of being unable to pay players on time persists at the club despite the “new look” feel around the team.

“For ten day we were not training, but I was there from morning to evening. I had to do my job. I was trying to solve the problem.

“I had to send a voice note to the players, to tell them to report for duty. It would’ve been bad not to honour the fixture. The result is bad but do you want to tell me what is worse? I will take a bashing trying to protect the game.

“We could’ve taken the easy way out and cancelled the match… but we are trying to solve the problem. Where we are at is a culmination of what has been happening. We can’t hide from this”.
