When it comes to searching for a good bet at Fairview the team of Alan Greeff and Richard Fourie is the go-to combination these days.
Of course, it one is looking for a runner at a big price, one will need to look elsewhere but Friday in the Eastern Cape that successful combination can once again provide the banker on the card.
The feature event comes up in Race 6, the Sophomore Plate for three-year-olds over 1400m on the turf, and Greeff sends out Fairy Knight and Legal Thriller but with Fourie aboard Fairy Knight, the son of Global View does look the stable elect.
He also appears to be a very decent horse as he has raced nine times for three wins, four seconds and a third and Fourie has been in the irons for every one of his races.
He is also one of those runners who is equally happy on turf and the Polytrack as he has won on both surfaces.
As far as his form on turf is concerned, he has one win and three seconds in his four starts.
Interestingly, following his last start, which resulted in a fluent two-length victory in the Guineas Plate over 1600m on the Polytrack, the decision was taken to geld him.
Hopefully he will have improved for the operation, and we will see an even better version of Fairy Knight on the track this time.
Fairy Knight holds both The Winter Lake and Waz Wouter on recent meetings. He finished 4.75 lengths clear of The Winter Lake when they both were beaten by Zoomie, while in the Guineas Plate Fairy Knight defeated Waz Wouter by 4.25.
Both The Winter Lake and Waz Wouter have won since then and were impressive in those wins, but the form of Fairy Knight should be too strong.
