Kingdundee should keep his unbeaten record over track and trip at Friday’s meeting on the Fairview Turf track.
The son of The United States, trained by Gavin Smith, will be in action in a Pinnacle Stakes over 1000m.
Kingdundee was a very easy winner of the Fairview Flying Five in April and could make it win number 6 from 9 starts – 3 of them were over track and trip.
“He loves the 1000m trip. A big effort is expected,” assistant-trainer Dean Smith said.
Craig Zackey takes the ride and unless Kingdundee has a terrible off day, he looks a banker in all bets.
If he does fluff his lines for some reason the race becomes wide open. Cliff Top is back to his best and looks the main danger.
First Origin, Anuschka’s World, Play Act and Forest Spy should be in the mix.
There might be no feature race on Friday but Kingdundee’s appearance, and another strong Pinnacle Stakes, this one over 1600m, should make it an interesting afternoon’s racing.
In the race over 1600m some of the best older horses in the province will do battle.
Bingwa will be aiming for a third consecutive victory. The Smith stable reported Bingwa is “fit and well” and a big effort is expected.
He is the best weighted horse in the race, but there are very capable challengers.
Trainer Alan Greeff has a strong hand with Zinovi and Global Ally. Firealley (Jacques Strydom) and Bush Tracker (Sharon Kotzen) will also have a say in what should be an exciting affair.
The first race is at 12:20 and the Greeff trained North Star looks like a banker in the first leg of the Bipot.
Wild Fig, also from the Greeff yard, is a big runner in the first leg of the Place Accumulator, which is race two at 12:55.
Garden Sun (Strydom) will have many supporters in race three, the first leg of the Pick Six. He could fight it out with Henry’s Hedge (Juan Nel) for the win.
Kingdundee (race 7) will be a popular Pick Six banker and Winter Emeralds (Greeff) can also not be left out of any bets.
Winter Emeralds can complete the hat-trick in the fifth race. It won’t be easy from a wide draw against some tough rivals.
Coastal Path is another possible Pick Six banker from the Greeff stable, but the eighth and last race at a Fairview meeting is always a tricky affair.
It should be Bingwa by a mile
