Jupiter Des Bordes ready to rule at Haydock

Jupiter Des Bordes scored a first British win at Warwick earlier in the month and can double up in Haydock's Betfred Last Fling Handicap Chase on Tuesday.

Previously trained in France, he is now with Richard Hobson and it has taken a while to work out his need for a staying trip, starting out over 4000m before eventually finding the winning groove when upped to 4800m.

While he was only a head in front of House Of Habsburg that day, the runner-up gave a big boost to the form when subsequently hacking up by 20 lengths and the relatively unexposed Jupiter Des Bordes was upped 9lb for the win.

He is technically 4lb wrong here and the extra 800m is an unknown, but he was certainly not stopping last time and could have more to give.

Captain Hugo is on a retrieval mission in the Betfred 'Bet Builder' EBF 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle.

Philip Hobbs and Johnson White had high hopes for this five-year-old after winning one of his two bumper starts last term and those expectations looked to be justified when he was a cosy Newbury winner on his hurdles bow.

His progression was checked at Aintree earlier in the month though, when he was a bit keen early on and possibly paid for that when he asked for a bit extra in the finish.

If he can race a little more conservatively here, Captain Hugo can get back on track.

Lady Tadita can extend her unbeaten run to four with Listed success in the Byerley Stud Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Taunton.

Winner of her sole bumper start for Jamie Snowden last season, she has triumphed on each of her two hurdles runs this term, opening with victory at Market Rasen in September before returning for a Huntingdon win in November.

She defied a 7lb penalty that day and this has been her aim ever since.

Ghaiyyath Park takes the eye as she has her first start for Mick Appleby in the Always Gamble Responsibly At BetMGM Fillies' Handicap at Wolverhampton.

She started life with Andreas Wohler in Germany but after failing to win in four starts, she joined James Tate in the summer.

It looked as though she would also struggle in Britain with two unplaced initial runs, but her latest effort when a head second at Lingfield offered much more promise, which was surely a factor in Appleby's decision to snap her up for 11,500 guineas with more improvement to come. - Press Association
