JOY AND PEACE AT FAIRVIEW

January 2025

Henk Steenkamp

The reigning East Cape Horse of the Year, Joy And Peace, is ready to start the new year on a high note.

The four-year-old Master Of My Fate filly should make it 8 wins from 19 starts when she tackles the second race at Friday’s Fairview Turf meeting.

Joy And Peace has to carry 60kgs, giving weight to her rivals, but is weighted to win the Conditions Plate for fillies and mares over 2000m.

Regular pilot Richard Fourie will be in the irons for the Alan Greeff stable and Joy And Peace is a banker in the first leg of the Place Accumulator.

Another four-year-old Master of my Fate filly, Epikleros, is in receipt of 10kgs from the favourite and could give Joy And Peace a run for her money.

Yuzae Ramzan takes the ride for the Justin Snaith yard.

Snaith will saddle a huge runner in the fourth race, a Maiden Plate over 1600m. Run The World looks hard to beat with Fourie in the saddle.

On a competitive card, Run The World looks like the banker to structure your bets around.

The babies will get the action started in the new year at Fairview with the first race at 12:30.

It is the Maiden Juvenile Plate for fillies and seven two-year olds will face the starter. The only one with a race under the belt is Silva City.

She should win this for the Greeff yard and is a banker in the first leg of the Bipot. Fiery Countess (Gavin Smith) is the backup.

The Greeff-Fourie combination should get favourite backers off to a solid start but after that it gets a lot more competitive, maybe with the exception of Run The World.

Back of the grass after a lengthy stint on the poly, it could pay to go wide in the exotics and take a percentage.

As always – let’s give it a go!
