Jagwar on the prowl at Uttoxeter

December 2024

Jagwar can maintain his perfect record over fences in the 2025 Uttoxeter Annual Membership Now Available Novices' Limited Handicap Chase at Uttoxeter on Tuesday.

Winner of one of his six hurdles runs, the five-year-old has found his calling over fences, although his jumping was far from perfect on his Wetherby debut in October.

He warmed to the task and eventually looked decent value for his 0.5-length margin of victory and built on that with another convincing triumph at the second time of asking last month.

The handicapper has taken a dim view of his 3-length success, raising Jagwar by 9 points, but given the ease of his Bangor strike, he can defy that revised mark.

Kilbarry Hill impressed with a 19-length win at Hereford after enduring a winless campaign in his first novice season last term.

He righted that record in style and then claimed another win on paper in a Catterick walkover.

While the Signs 2000 Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle is certainly no walkover, Kilbarry Hill looks good enough.

Sporting Ace should feel the benefit of a recent run as he contests the 4 Oaks Group Handicap Chase.

Off the track since February, he understandably felt the lack of match practice over 5200m here last month, coming home a 15-length second.

A slight drop to 4800m is not a concern, with testing ground also a positive.

Hollygrove Cha Cha can show off her winning moves in the BetGoodwin Best UK Bookie Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Fontwell.

She is unbeaten in three outings for Jamie Snowden so far, scoring twice in bumper company last season before opening the current campaign with a hurdles win at Ludlow.

The four-year-old had 8 lengths in hand at the line and was certainly not in top gear, which is all the more impressive given her jumping was far from foot-perfect.

Given that, she should be able to take another step forward and deal with her winner's penalty.

Kylian snapped a long losing spell when winning at Newcastle and still makes plenty of appeal in the Free Bets With BetUK Bet Club Handicap at Southwell despite a 7-point rise.

A Listed winner as a juvenile, he has been set some tough tasks in Group-race company and also had to contend with a starting mark of 101 at the beginning of this year.

Gelded in the summer, Kylian worked his way back to form and showed a smart turn of foot to win at Gosforth Park, with the 1.5-length distance not adequately reflecting his superiority.

He has now shot back up to mark of 98, but Archie Watson's charge should be full of confidence now he has got his head back in front. - Press Association
