Jack Milner: Once again bettors are faced with a competitive card on the Polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday but there could be some respite in Race 2 where Justin Snaith sends out Simply Complicated.
Snaith is likely to be on course at Turffontein on Saturday as he has already declared Grade 1 Cape Flying Championship winner Rio Querari as a definite starter for the Grade 1 Computaform Sprint over 1000m. The official declarations for all the races will be announced today.
Simply Complicated, a three-year-old daughter of Twice Over, runs in a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 2000m. While she has had quite a few chances, the addition of cheekpieces in her penultimate run, which were replaced by blinkers last time, have resulted in a marked improvement on her performances.
Two runs back Simply Complicated went down just 0.35 lengths to Panna Cotta and last time she was beaten into second again but was just 0.50 lengths behind Good Girl. These races were over 1900m and 1800m respectively on the Polytrack.
Anton Marcus was aboard in both of those races and he is carded to ride her again. However, he did not ride at yesterday’s meeting at the same venue as he was medically indisposed and he has been stood down again for this meeting, so Richard Fourie will now take the ride.
Simply Complicated is drawn a little wide at No 9 but over this sort of distance it should not be too much of a concern.
There could be good value for punters in Race 3, where Glen Kotzen saddles Legend Has It in a MR 63 Handicap for fillies and mares over 2000m.
She ran a decent race last time and with merit rating dropping further, she looks set up for a second victory.
