The Hong Kong Jockey Club bought a pair of well-related colts out of last week's BSA National Yearling Sale in Johannesburg for a total outlay of R3.4 million.

The first to fall the Club’s way was Lot 62 for R2.4 million – a son of South Africa’s multiple leading sire Vercingetorix. His headline progeny includes Group 1 winners Pomp And Power, Cousin Casey and Oriental Charm.

The colt’s half-siblings have won a combined seven races and his dam, Dance At Dawn, is a sibling to Group 1 winners Real Princess and William Longsword – hailing from the same family as former UAE Horse-Of-The-Year Victory Moon.

Lot 199 was secured by the Club for R1 million. The colt is by What A Winter, twice champion sire in South Africa. What A Winter’s top offspring includes Group 1 winners Clouds Unfold, Russet Air, Warrior’s Rest and Isivunguvungu.

The youngster’s dam Mohallela is a half-sister to Group 2 winner Alyaasaat. Mohallela was a winner in South Africa and her progeny Arividicio is a Group 3 placegetter in South Africa. – Hong Kong Jockey Club
