In years to come, Hereinafter will look back at 2024 and declare that this was her year.
The six-year-old Futura-mare managed to score just once per annum in the years 2020 until 2022. Last year, she failed to find the net, but this year she has compensated followers by completing a hat-trick of wins in her four outings.
On Wednesday the Michael Miller-inmate will be aiming to stretch her winning streak to four, and there is no reason to believe that she cannot be successful.
Rated as high as 80 earlier in her career, that number dropped to 58 on Valentine’s Day this year. However, her hat-trick heroics have resulted in a 14-point increase, so she goes into Race 8, a FM68 Handicap over 1000m, rated 72.
Two concerns are that she will be carrying top weight of 62kg, and that she will jump from gate 9. For these reasons, a safety net in exotics will be to add Vision Of Will, Sweet Julia, and Discerning to the fray.
Earlier on the card, Canford Queen will also be looking to extend her winning run. Having earned a visit to the winner’s enclosure on her last two outings, a hat-trick is on the cards for this daughter of Canford Cliffs in Race 4, a FM70 Handicap over 1800m.
The course and distance is obviously to her liking with a win and runner-up finish in two attempts. Trained by Gareth van Zyl, she will most probably focus her career on the Polytrack as she does her best work on this surface.
In Race 5, a MR70 Handicap over 1900m, Eventidor can give trainer Siboniso Ngcobo his second career winner. Ngcobo has engaged S’manga Khumalo for the ride – the jockey who gave him his maiden winner when riding Lightning Jimmy to victory.
