The champion filly Luna Halo will start getting ready for some upcoming features in a Pinnacle Stakes on the Fairview Polytrack on Friday.

Although this can be seen as a prep run, the three-year-old daughter of Fire Away is the horse to beat in this clash of the fillies and mares over 1600m (race 6 at 15:20).

Luna Halo, already a winner of four Listed events, is unbeaten from two starts on the poly.

She gives the impression that she just sees out the mile but has won twice, and finished second once, from four starts over this distance.

Luna Halo is the best-weighted of the ten runners and will be a popular banker in all bets.

“You can’t ask more of a horse. She is ultra-consistent,” trainer Alan Greeff commented. With a record of seven wins from 12 starts, one can’t argue with those sentiments. Richard Fourie takes the ride.

If one looks past Luna Halo, the race is wide open.

Amazing Colours, Rose Of Bayeux, Lady Mistico, Strange Magic and October Fair can all come into play in the unlikely event of a bad run by Luna Halo.

The meeting of eight races starts at 12:25 and the first race gets the Bipot underway. Race two at 13:00 is the start of the Place Accumulator where Walt Whitman (Greeff) should not miss the first three.

Pick Six players will get involved from race three which jumps at 13:35.

The Greeff-Fourie combination looks strong throughout the day. Six of Fourie’s eight mounts have been priced up as favourites.
