GREEFF WILL BE EAGER

November 2025

Henk Steenkamp

Alan Greeff just loves winning races and will be eager to turn a few recent narrow defeats into winners at the Fairview Polytrack on Friday.

The stable of the East Cape champion trainer has been in sublime form on the poly, but those hard-luck seconds do not sit well with the maestro.

As usual the potent combination of Greeff and jockey Richard Fourie have winning chances throughout the day, but two horses which were denied in tight finishes last time will be very hard to beat this time.

The four-year-old Terminal Velocity (race 2 no 2) and the three-year-old gelding Wild Fig (race 8 no 7) missed victory by 0.10 lengths in their respective races earlier this month.

Terminal Velocity jumps from pole position and looks like a solid banker in the first leg of the Place Accumulator at 13:05. Royal Mermaid (Dean Smith) could be her only danger in this Open Maiden for fillies and mares over 1600m.

The last race of any Fairview meeting always seems to be a tricky affair, but Wild Fig looks ready to strike in this MR 72 Handicap over 1400m.

Fourie has a wide draw to contend with, but one of the dangers Burning Man (Juan Nel) is drawn even wider. Das Gute (Lunga Gila) is also a contender in this race, but hasn’t shown his best on the poly yet.

Ocean Flame (Cliffie Miller) should be in the mix when the meeting starts with a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1200m at 12:30.

This is the first leg of the Bipot and Ocean Flame is a possible banker.

The first leg of the Pick Six, race 3 at 13:40, could be the highlight of the meeting. There are plenty of quality amongst the field of eight runners in the Racing Today Conditions Plate for fillies and mares.

Greeff has two lively runners in Splicethemainbrace and Walkonthewildside, but the ultra-consistent Honorable Member (Sharon Kotzen) could get it right with only 50kgs to carry.

There is no feature race on Friday, but it should be an exciting and competitive meeting - as always, let’s give it a go!
