Greeff to create joy and peace at Fairview

January 2024

Jack Milner

Racing returns to the Polytrack at Fairview on Tuesday and trainer Alan Greeff can bring bettors some joy and peace, both much needed at this time of the year.

Race 7 is the Aloe Handicap for three-year-old fillies over 1300m and as expected the seven-horse race is dominated by three runners apiece from the Greeff and Gavin Smith stables. Kelly Mitchley-trained Swiftwinged makes up the filling in the Greeff and Smith sandwich.

Greeff, however, sends out Joy And Peace and this filly stands out in this field. She has been costly and frustrating to follow of late but can put the record straight this time.

With a good debut win and some promising runs behind stable star Lunar Halo last season more was expected from the Master Of My Fate filly this season but she has flattered to deceive.

She has disappointed twice behind Smith-trained Pinnacle this season but did run a good race on the Polytrack in November when easily beating stable companion and rival in this, Back For More.

That form has worked out with Back For More winning since.

She did not run badly in her next start at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth in December where she finished a 4.15-length fifth behind Philosophise.

In her last start she was well supported but Pinnacle proved too good. However, the return to the Polytrack could make all the difference.

Jockey Richard Fourie is usually on the stable elect and it is not often stable companions beat Fourie’s mounts but this could well be the case this time as Chase Maujean is aboard Joy And Peace while Fourie is on Summer Odyssey.

This one-time winner is consistent but seems to get going far too late in her races. However, she does look the main threat to her stablemate.
