Gorgeous Bomb to drop at Scottsville

Three-year-old Gorgeous Bomb is worth following at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.

The Lancaster Bomber filly should rate as a popular banker for most in Race 3, a Maiden Plate over 1000m. Alyson Wright’s runner was unlucky to be pipped for the win on debut.

She showed good pace throughout and overhauled the front runners shortly after turning for home. But there was a horse charging home on her outside and with it also being her first start she showed greenness and hung toward the rail, which cost her.

The winner of that race, Abaddon, went on to win a hugely competitive handicap next time so the form line is strong. Gorgeous Bomb is again meeting males, and she is trying Scottsville for the first time. However, the drop in distance could catch out her main danger, One Armed Bandit, who has run some decent races over 1200m.

Gavin Lerena rode Gorgeous Bomb on debut and he will be back in the irons once again.

While Race 6, a 1400m Middle Stakes for fillies and mares, boasts a full field of strong performers but Perilla, a 1400m specialist from the in-form Dennis Bosch yard, could be the one to catch.

She found her last race over 1200m a bit short and she also had to deal with being hit on the muzzle.

But it is her form with Bevies Delight that stands out. The pair fought out the finish to the River Indigo Handicap run over the same track and trip and this should rate as the leading form line in the race. Add to that, that the pair have the advantage of having been given plum draws, they should dominate this race as well.

However, not only is Perilla the best weighted horse in the field but she also benefits from Rachel Venniker’s 1.5kg claim which should see her hold all the trump cards this time.
