Racing is on the Polytrack at Fairview on Monday and there seems to be some decent betting opportunities for punters on the eight-race card.
Kicking off in Race 1, a Maiden Juvenile Plate for fillies over 1200m, we have Winning Grace, who showed inexperience in her first two starts but the switch to jockey Muzi Yeni last time indicated an improved performance was expected. That was the case as she finished a 1.75-length second behind well-backed Errols Legacy.
Back on the Polytrack from a tricky No 7 draw might not make it easy for her but the way she finished off that race suggested 1200m on the Polytrack should not be a problem and it could be strike one for the punters.
Wildest Dreams is another in a long line of fillies who have joined Alan Greeff in the Eastern Cape and where he has done a sterling job.
As hard as it is to believe she may have more in the tank as her recent wins were her best yet.
A six-point penalty will make it hard for Wildest Dreams in Race 3, a FM 82 Handicap over 1900m, but with Richard Fourie up the mare will not go down without a fight.
Yeni is the noted jockey booking in Race 4, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 2000m, where he will be aboard Gold For Africa. This Gold Standard filly is improving and looks ready to score.
The further she has gone the better she has looked and the extra 100m of this race could get her there in time.
Great Melody in Race 8, a MR 68 Handicap over 1000m, revelled in his first run over 1000m on the Polytrack. He drops in class and can double up with S’manga Khumalo aboard for Gavin Smith.
