Who will fire the first shots at the Fairview Polytrack in the new season?
It looks like things are going to be very competitive at Tuesday afternoon’s meeting, the first on the poly surface for the East Cape season.
At the first Fairview Turf meeting this past Friday the stables of trainers Gavin Smith and Kelly Mitchley performed the best and could again have a big say.
Jockey Sean Veale is still finding his feet riding for the champion yard of Alan Greeff but they combine with some lively runners.
The two Greeff horses which stand out are Coral Creek (race 2) and Gocekwithlove (race 7).
Corak Creek nearly made a winning debut last month with Veale aboard and they could strike in the first leg of the Place Accumulator at 13:05.
The four-year-old filly Gocekwithlove will have to carry 61kgs to victory in a fillies and mares handicap over 1000m, but is in tremendous form.
She will jump with Veale from pole position and looks like a banker.
The action starts with a competitive first race, the first leg of the Bipot, at 12:30.
Torix Knight (Mitchley) will be hard to beat in the first leg of the Pick Six, race three at 13:40. Take A Mulligan (Smith) and Mayor Of Merrivale (Juan Nel) are the dangers.
Smith holds a strong hand with three inform runners in the eighth and last race at 16:35. The vote goes to the What A Winter filly Miss Shavi with Muzi Yeni in the irons.
