Whorly Whorly finally earned his pension money and can now retire as a millionaire.
The nine-year-old son of Great Britain had garnered earnings of R990,625 and he just needed to finish in the top two in Race 8 at the Vaal yesterday to break the R1-million barrier.
Ridden by Craig Zackey, Clinton Binda’s charge fought right down to the wire and held on by a short head to beat Coming In Hot.
Binda had said they wanted this worthy old warrior to go out having pocketed R1 million and now he will be able to do it.
The gelding has now run 80 times for 12 wins and 21 places.
His previous victory came in the Listed Wolf Power 1600 on 30 January 2021.
