Get ready for a Spurious day at Fairview

Champion trainer Justin Snaith sends just one runner to Fairview on Tuesday and that is Spurious in Race 1, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1400m on the Polytrack.

This three-year-old daughter of One World has run some promising races in the Western Cape and on that basis probably has the strongest form in this field.

Her last race, in which she finished a 1.60-length seventh behind Winter In Auckland in an Open Maiden for fillies and mares over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville.

Spurious went off at 3-1 to win that race on 11 February, an event that has produced two subsequent winners.

Her previous race had seen her finish a 1.55-length fourth behind South Of France in a Maiden Plate over 1400m, also at Durbanville.

This race could be won or lost on the way she handles the Polytrack but on an exceptionally tricky card Spurious looks to be the best bet on day and could get bettors off to a positive start.

She has the benefit of jumping from No 1 draw and will have in-form jockey Chad Little in the irons.

On this tricky card it might pay to look for some value, so with that in mind Supreme Judge might well be worth an each-way strike in Race 6, a MR 68 Handicap over 1600m. The Horizon gelding had excuses in his latest start on the turf and is better judged on his form on this surface. He did win over this course and distance in November for Craig Zackey, who retains the ride.
