GAMBIAN STAR SHINES
Cape Town City’s Kajally Drammeh is expected back at the club this week after helping Gambia to a surprise runners-up position at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt at the weekend. Senegal beat their neighbours 2-0 in the final in Cairo. It is an extraordinary achievement for one of Africa’s smallest countries, who edged Nigeria 1-0 in their semi-final on Monday. They beat Tunisia, Zambia and Benin without conceding a goal to win their group and advance to the knockout stage, before thumping South Sudan 5-0 in the quarter-finals. City allowed the right winger to go to the tournament in Egypt, even though it is outside the window for international football and could well reap the benefits if he impresses scouts from European clubs.
