Fourie gives it his Best Shot

An exciting and difficult task awaits the promising My Best Shot at the Fairview Polytrack on Friday.

The Fire Away colt has got it all to do at the weights in the Guineas Plate for three-year-olds over 1600m.

My Best Shot (Alan Greeff) has too carry 60kgs and is 6kgs worse off this time after he finished 1.5 lengths in third place behind Sakurajima (second) in the Listed Racehorse Owners Association Stakes a month ago.

Sakurajima (Kelly Mitchley) was only beaten by the classy On My Honour (Glen Kotzen) on that day.

He should go one better now with a galloping mass of 54kg. Kaiden Brewer takes the ride.

If there is a combination at Fairview who can turn things around, it is Greeff and champion jockey Richard Fourie.

Fourie will give it his best shot with My Best Shot in what should be an interesting rematch with Sakurajima.

Play Act (Cliffie Miller) should be in the mix and the filly Can’t Say No should complete the Quartet.

The Guineas Plate is race three on the card of nine races and a small field of eight runners will face the starter at 13:15.

This is the first leg of the Place Accumulator and most tickets will be on Sakurajima and My Best Shot.

The first race is at 12:05 and the second at 12:40 is the first leg of the Bipot. Bipot players should be off to a flyer with Noodsberg (Justin Snaith) as a banker.

Race four sees the start of the challenging Pick Six at 13:50.
