Fourie fightback at Fairview

In what has been a rare manifestation in the Eastern Cape, in three meeting this month at Fairview, the “hot” team of Alan Greeff and Richard Fourie have come away with just two winners.

So, heading into Christmas, they will be looking to improve on that scratchy start and will be looking to pick up a race or two on the Polytrack at Fairview on Monday.

Amanatto was all the rage to in last time out in a Mixed Maiden over 1400m on this track and was sent out a 72-100 favourite. Unfortunately, she received a bump at the start and ended up too far back and by the time Fourie got her going, Mio Destino was on his bicycle and had skipped clear.

The four-year-old daughter of Danon Platina has been costly to follow but although she is taking on the boys in Race 1, she does have her 2.5kg sex allowance and has been dropped to 1200m this time.

This is not the toughest field around and it does look the perfect opportunity to finally shed her maiden tag.

Fairy Knight is another Greeff and Fourie runner that should go close to winning. The five-year-old gelding lines up in Race 5, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1200m and he has an outstanding record over this course and distance.

The Global View gelding returned to his best with a very easy win over 1400m on this surface last time out but he has a record of three wins and a second from four starts over this track and trip and could be hard to beat.

Fourie has ridden him 20 times for nine wins and seven places and has been aboard for all of his races over 1200m on the Polytrack. There is some decent opposition but from draw No 4 he does look the one to beat.
