Richard Fourie is set to become only the second jockey to ride 100 winners in an East Cape season.

He is only three away from the milestone and could very well get there at Friday’s Fairview Turf meeting.

Fourie has a full set of rides for the Alan Greeff stable. Five of his eight rides have been priced up as favourites.

Greg Cheyne is the only jockey to have reached 100 winners in an East Cape season. He rode 116 winners in the 2018/’19 season.

In 2020 Cheyne nearly got to a hundred again when he finished just one winner short.

Last season Fourie was also very close to 100 winners, finishing just two shy.

There are two feature races on Friday’s card and in the R150 000 Listed Milkwood Stakes for fillies and mares over 1000m, Fourie will be riding the favourite Three Rocks.

The pacey Heavenly Blue filly will be aiming to make it eight victories from 11 starts. She loves track and trip and should take a power of beating in race seven, off at 15:55.

Candy Town (André Nel) visits from Cape Town and has the ability to win this race. She will be looking for the lead straight away and could be hard to peg back at the finish. Her regular pilot Corné Orffer will take the ride.

The other feature is the R175 000 Fairview 1400, race six at 15:20, in which the Gavin Smith-trained Cherry Ano is a worthy favourite.

He is unbeaten from two starts over this track and trip. The gutsy son of Capetown Noir is in fine form and has struck up a good relationship with jockey Calvin Habib.

The meeting starts at 12:25 with an odds-on favourite in the Canford Cliffs filly Confetti in the first leg of the Bipot. Fourie rides.

It is an open looking second race at 13:00. which is the first leg of the Place Accumulator.

King Of Queen (Smith) can be considered as a banker in the first leg of the Pick Six, race three at 13:35.
