Form points to Whispering Death

Racing is on the turf at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday and it sees the return of Mike and Mathew de Kock-trained Whispering Death. The son of Danon Platina has raced three times and after running second on debut won his next two starts.

The first was a 2.45-length beating of Chronicle King, who went on to win the Grade 2 Golden Horseshoe and run third in the Grade 1 Premiers Champion Stakes to Jan Van Goyen, both at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

The Candice Dawson-trained runner had his first run back at Turffontein on Saturday in what looked quite a strong field, and got up close home to win, so that makes those form lines even more significant

Whispering Death missed the entire winter season in KZN and has also been gelded. He lines up in Race 6, a Progress Plate over 1400m, and should be hard to beat. Callan Murray takes the ride.

Quickstepgal was hampered when beaten only 1.40 lengths by Alan Greeff’s unbeaten Anotherdanceforme in the Grade 2 Golden Slipper. The latter won her seasonal debut without a fuss last week and Quickstepgal should do the same in Race 7, a Progress Plate over for fillies and mares over 1400m.

On official ratings the filly, who was named KwaZulu-Natal champion juvenile, has something to find with Magical View, Warrior Royale and Jeanne Darc but trainer Tienie Prinsloo has lightened her burden with a 4kg apprentice claim. She is ridden by up-and-coming youngster Dezahn Louw.
