The Beach Beauty Mile is a Non-Black Type feature for three-year-old fillies, and it has attracted a quality field on the turf track at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday.
However, there is one runner who could be too forward for her opposition and that is Foreshore. She made her rivals look ordinary in her last three starts for trainer Duncan Howells and could be hard to beat again.
Foreshore started her career in a slow and steady fashion but won her maiden fourth time up as she liked. Although she did not beat much, it was a sign of better things to come. In her second win, on her handicap debut, the newly turned three-year-old gave five-year-old mare Miss Gibson 5.5kg and an unextended 1.50 lengths beating. The latter won a nice race recently and looks to be on the up.
If that didn’t shine a light on the Wylie Hall filly being a bit special, then her win from off the pace on the Polytrack by an increasing 3.20 lengths will have impressed, most including those who bet against her.
However, she might still be had at a decent price as many of her rivals have shown potential and any could impress over the longer distance. The race therefore has a competitive look about it and Foreshore has drawn widest.
Minogue was all the rage in the betting last time even though she drew badly on her Greyville debut. She is obviously highly regarded and proved it when she flew up to win going away. She showed class and gave signs she was looking for at least this 1600m. She is by Vercingetorix after all, and he won the Grade 1 Daily News 2000 over 2000m at this venue.
She will, however, need to prove she can get the fractions right as she does tend to leave it late, and Foreshore, who has is unbeaten in two tries over the distance, could have the edge at this stage of their careers.
Bomber Girl could be the biggest threat if she sees out the distance, she has earned the highest rating having met much stronger than this whole field has but could be one with more speed than stamina in her pedigree.
