Follow the Green Mile at Greyville

Punters will have a seven-race card to deal with on the Polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday and trainer Andre Nel could provide everybody with the banker of the day.

Nel’s KwaZulu-Natal yard is in hot form and he had two impressive winners last month. .

One of the arts of training is to find the right race for the right horse and Nel appears to have just done that for Green Mile.

Green Mile has run three good races in a row. He has taken time to mature but the fact that he finished ahead of Alyson Wright’s promising three-year-old World Of Our Own (before the latter turned it around last time) speaks to his ability.

This Gimmethegreenlight-gelding will now try the Polytrack in Race 4, a Maiden Plate over 1600m, and being the sole four-year-old against three-year-olds, he should show his younger counterparts a galloping lesson.

Serino Moodley has a great relationship with the yard and knows Green Mlle well having ridden him in his last five starts.

Nel could also be on the mark with Rafiki in Race 3, a Class 5 Handicap over 1600m.

Rafiki is one of two Poly specialists in the race, the other being Forest Jump, but the former was the more eye-catching last time and should be at a peak in his third start after a rest. He could be hard to catch.

Numzaan brings some fair Western Cape form into the fray and could be one for Swingers and Exactas.

Shesarocket recently arrived from the Highveld and looks well-placed to make a winning local debut.

Her form does not readily jump off the page, but she has shown good pace and the field she meets in Race 2, an Open Maiden, is of low calibre. To make matters tougher for the rest, she has drawn ideally in gate No 2.

There is one significant pointer as she is 7kg better off with Radiant Heat who beat her by 0.50-lengths the time they met.
