FATE CAN MASTER NEWCASTLE RIVALS

February 2025

By Josh Luckhurst, PA

Master Of My Fate aims to quickly return to the winner's enclosure when he lines up in the Extra Winnings With BetUK Acca Club Handicap at Newcastle on Thursday.

The four-year-old has been stunning form this calendar year, kicking off with a hat-trick of all-weather wins and was prominent when going off as favourite on his latest appearance at Southwell before a bump late on derailed his challenge.

The John and Sean Quinn-trained gelding steps back up in class and will renew his rivalry with Dark Kestrel, who the son of Footstepsinthesand beat by a length to complete his treble at the end of January at the Nottinghamshire venue.

Master Of My Fate will carry 5lb more this time around, but he seemed to cope with the mark on his last start and he should be thereabouts once again.

Saxonia should have enough to finally get his head in front at the sixth time of asking in the Best Odds Guaranteed At BetMGM Restricted Maiden Stakes.

Charlie Johnston's gelding produced a career-best on his all-weather debutduring his most recent start, finishing a head behind Blast The Dream and West Tyrone in third.

The Tapeta surface could do just the trick for the son of Saxon Warrior, and he only goes up 1lb for his latest effort so he should be in contention.

Gosforth Park has been a happy hunting ground for Concert Boy and trainer Kati Scott.

The five-year-old has won twice and finished as runner-up on the other two occasions on his last four starts, each on the all-weather surface at Newcastle.

The bay gelding won over course and distance to start this run of recent good form last month and is 1lb well in here.

A break could have rejuvenated Next Left ahead of the 2025 Season Tickets On Sale Now Novices' Handicap Chase at Huntingdon.

Dan Skelton's nine-year-old has not been seen since recording successive second-placed finishes in October at Southwell.

He will drop down in trip for his return and the extended two-mile contest could be just what he needs.

Stardhem's first run of 2025 could see him shed his maiden tag in the Huntingdon Racecourse Fixtures On Sale Now Handicap Chase.

The Ben Pauling-trained bay has placed on his last two appearances, finishing three and three-quarter lengths behind Speiriuil at Lingfield in November before finishing third at Warwick on New Year's Eve.

Lord Of All Saints, who won by a huge 16 lengths in the latter contest, has subsequently won in a higher grade so that form should come through for the six-year-old.

Rula Bula can return to winning ways in the Visit Sri Lanka Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Lingfield.

Jonjo and A J O'Neill's six-year-old pulled up at Chepstow last month after recording two second-placed finishes in two Listed contests - both inside two lengths of the winner - in 2024, which proves she does have ability.

That is supported by victory at Market Rasen in November, while a drop in trip to two miles could be another bonus for the daughter of Mount Nelson.
