The stables of top Nelson Mandela Bay trainers Gavin Smith and Alan Greeff should again dominate proceedings at the Fairview Polytrack on Friday afternoon.

They are involved in an exciting battle for the East Cape trainers title and there are only two meetings remaining.

Smith is two winners ahead going into Friday’s meeting of eight races. Both stables look strong throughout the day but it looks like a very competitive meeting.

Very few horses stand out as bankers and don’t forget that all the other stables will give it a full go in an effort to improve their stats with the season coming to a close.

The meeting starts at 12:40 and the first race is the first leg of the Bipot.

The second race is off at 13:15 and gets the Place Accumulator going. This might be the play of the day – go wide, take a percentage and catch what should be a decent payout.

The Emmanuel Kaknis stable will give the big yards a go in the early races – Valyrian Sword (race 1 no 2) and Mediteraneangoddes (race 2 no 1) are huge runners.

Pick Six players will get involved at 13:50 with the third race where the Smith-stable has a strong hand.

Race four is the open looking Pinnacle Stakes over 1300m and the first leg of the first Jackpot at 14:25.
