With the Friday 23 January Fairview race meeting having been moved to the polytrack from the turf, the three feature races originally scheduled for Friday's meeting has been postponed with a week to Friday 30 January.
The Fairview Merchants over 1200m, the Fairview Mile over 1600m, and the Lakeside Handicap over 2400m, all Non-Black Type races, will now be contested on Friday 30 January.
As expected, trainers Dean Smith and Alan Greeff dominate the entries for the Fairview Merchants, with eight and five runners entered respectively, while Cape-Town based Justin Snaith (two) and Glen Kotzen (one) are sending raiders to the Eastern Cape for this R175,000 race.
It is interesting to note that Greeff has entered Mercantour and Guy Gibson in both the Merchants and the Fairview Mile. As things stand, Mercantour will carry 61.5kg in the Merchants should he face the starter, or he will carry 61kg if contesting the Mile.
Similarly, a number of runners have been entered for both the Mile and Lakeside Handicap, but trainers have until 10:00 on Monday 26 January to submit their final declarations.
