EYES ON THE TOP THREE

June 2024

Henk Steenkamp

IT is going to be difficult to keep the stake money out of the hands of the top three Fairview stables at Friday’s Polytrack meeting.

Last Friday trainers Gavin Smith, Alan Greeff and Kelly Mitchley dominated the Poly meeting by winning seven of the eight races between them.

They are strong again and it is going to be tough for the other stables to have a winner on the card of eight races.

Although punters will be looking to the top three to deliver the goods, it is still a competitive meeting. The structure of the bets will be the key to success for the punters.

The leading combination of Greeff and record-breaking jockey Richard Fourie look particularly strong throughout the day.

Confetti could get them off to a winning start in the first race at 12:10. It is also the first leg of the Bipot and there is a R100 000 CRS bonus to aim for. Confetti should fight it out with Queen Of Jazz (Smith) for the win.

All eyes will be on And Action in the second race at 12:40.

The Fire Away gelding will make his debut for the Mitchley stable and is the odds-on favourite to win the first leg of the Place Accumulator.

Mitchley describes him as “a huge runner” in this Maiden Plate over 1100m.

Pick Six players get involved from race three at 13:15 and the first Jackpot starts with race four at 1900m.

Watch out for a good Fairview debut from the three-year-old filly Gocekwithlove in the seventh race.

She is drawn well and Fourie takes the ride for the Greeff stable.

The Greeff-Fourie combination can round off the meeting in style. The filly Si Gioca has been the runner-up in her last two starts and should be hard to beat this time.

She has a favourable draw and the track and trip suits her.
