Fairy Knight is drawn the widest of all but should find the winners box in the Guineas Plate at the Fairview Polytrack on Friday afternoon.
The three-year-old Global View colt finished second in his last two starts and probably deserves a win.
He looks too strong for the opposition and is a possible banker in all bets. Top jockey Richard Fourie knows him well and shouldn’t have any problems to overcome draw ten out of ten and negotiate a strong head wind.
Trainer Alan Greeff saddles Fairy Knight and has a strong hand in this race over 1600m. Stablemates Empire Blue and Back For More also look ready to run well.
Keep an eye on the Gavin Smith-trained filly Idita. Idita fly jumped at the start and didn’t run her best race three weeks ago. Better is expected from Idita in this race, the fourth on the card of eight races at 14:15. It is the first leg of the first Jackpot.
The Smith stable is in fine form and all eyes will be on another three-year-old Smith-trained filly in a Pinnacle Stakes for fillies and mares over 1200m, race seven at 16:00.
Golden Pacific has won four of her last five starts and can strike again, jumping from pole position. Apprentice jockey James Lihaba takes four kilograms off which can help Golden Pacific to a fifth career victory.
Former ten-time East Cape champion jockey Greg Cheyne is on a working holiday from the United Kingdom and makes a welcome appearance at his old hunting ground. e has a massive winning chance in the third race for the Greeff stable with the three-year-old filly Gideon’s Daughter. This race is the first leg of the Pick Six at 13:40.
