Fireworks is expected to have come on well from her maiden win when she runs in Race 6 over 1600m at Fairview on Monday.
Trainer Alan Greeff has dominated racing in Port Elizabeth for a number of years and his success has been remarkable.
However, if one had to look at his win rate for Wilgerbosdrift and Mauritzfontein it must be off the charts, particularly over the last few months.
Fireworks is the latest on the lengthy list of horses and it came as no surprise when the Mauritzfontein-owned daughter of Oratorio flew up late to win her first start at Fairview, even though the distance of 1200m appeared far too short.
Fireworks was trained by Alec Laird on the Highveld where she raced 11 times for seven places. She moved to Greeff in September and on 1 December, she went off at 3-4 to making a winning debut on the Polytrack.
Greg Cheyne had to work hard but he had her nose down where it matters as she beat Autumn Sky by a short head.
Today Fireworks makes her second appearance, this time in a FM 71 Handicap over 1600m. She has been fitted with blinkers and back over her more favoured trip, she is confidently expected to win again.
