Emaraaty Ana backed for Beverley Success

Emaraaty Ana looks the safest bet in the Eddie And Violet Smith Conditions Stakes at Beverley on Tuesday.

While the eight-year-old may have lost some of the dash that saw him strike Group One gold in the Sprint Cup at Haydock three years ago, he undoubtedly retains a good level of ability judged on his efforts this season.

Having joined Jamie Osborne over the winter, Emaraaty Ana recouped his 160,000 guineas purchase fee in one fell swoop with a lucrative success in Qatar in February and he ran a creditable race on his first start back in Britain when beaten just over 6-lengths in the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He can be forgiven a slightly disappointing run at Chester next time when the ground was slower than ideal and he is better judged on his latest effort over this course and distance, when he finished a neck third in the Beverley Bullet.

Easing in class slightly, Emaraaty Ana is the second highest-rated horse in the field behind Clarendon House, who himself is a high-class sprinter on his day but has had major issues with the stalls of late and is difficult to trust as a result.

Richard Hughes has his string firing on all cylinders at the moment and can add to his tally with Misty Memories in the Beckside Spa Retreat EBF Novice Stakes.

The Lambourn handler saddled four winners on Friday and Saturday combined and this Kodiac colt looked a winner in waiting when finishing a promising third on his Ffos Las debut in early August.

The winner Stark Warning did not do much for the form in Listed company next time, but the runner-up Bold Impact has since bolted up at Epsom and is now rated 86.

Misty Memories was right on his tail in Wales and will not need to improve much to finish a couple of places better for his in-form trainer.

Magical Merlin can belatedly open his account for the campaign in division two of the Ward Homes Yorkshire Handicap.

Harry Charlton's dual winner has not managed to get his head in front since June of last year, but has been running well enough in defeat to suggest his winning turn may not be far away.

He has been placed three times from six attempts so far this term, most recently finishing third at Chepstow, and he is back on his last winning mark of 75.

Sycamore Gap will not be winning out of turn if he can come good in the Quinnbet Handicap at Newcastle.

Trained not far down the road by Rebecca Menzies, the four-year-old has his quirks, but his performances in finishing second on his last two attempts prove he is capable of winning a small race of this nature if things drop right.

Jamie Spencer attempted to play his cards late when riding Sycamore Gap for the first time last week and he was beaten just a neck. If 5lb claimer Kaiya Fraser can employ similar tactics, he is handicapped to win.

Dan Skelton rarely leaves his local track of Warwick without a winner and it is not too difficult to make a case for Get Up Mush in the Weatherbys Stallion Book Handicap Chase.

The Getaway gelding has won twice from four attempts over fences, but was beaten into fourth place at cramped odds at Newton Abbot last time out.

While on the face of it that performance was disappointing, perhaps the track was tight enough for him over 4200m and he should be seen to better effect now upped in trip.

Jumping fare also comes from Fontwell, where Instant Gambler can make it back-to-back course and distance wins in the AK Bets Home Of Free Bets Novices' Handicap Chase. - Press Association
