Singapore racing continues on Saturday with an exciting 10-race card featuring both turf and dirt events.
In-form seven-year-old Elliot Ness is primed to go back-to-back in the $50,000 Class 4 Handicap over 1100m on the Polytrack.
The Donna Logan-trained five-time winner resumed from a seven-month break at this track and distance two starts ago in August. In that race he drew out in stall No 10, which forced him to race wide without cover in midfield.
Despite the challenging trip, he powered home to finish fourth. Subsequently, Elliot Ness bounced back impressively, demolishing his rivals with a commanding five-length victory.
The weight rise should not be a concern, as he has handled 57kg on four prior occasions, winning twice and finishing second as many times. Remaining in the same class this week, he appears on track for a double.
Trained by James Peters, four-year-old Last Supper can make amends in the last event of the day. In his past four starts, he’s been plagued by poor barrier draws, never landing better than gate No 8.
However, setting aside his outclassed run in the G2 3YO Classic, he’s won once and placed once in the other three starts, showing strong competitiveness in Class 4.
With a better draw, he seems more than capable of returning to the winner’s circle in this grade.
Another runner from James Peters’ stable, Star Express, put in a solid effort with a fast-finishing fifth over this track and distance in Class 4 last start, finishing just three lengths off the winner.
As a three-time winner in Class 5, dropping back to this grade should see him secure a spot in the Top 3. He looks one to watch in Race 1. - iRACE magazine

SINGAPORE RACE ANALYSIS – 28 September 2024
RACE 1
1st Pick: OTAHUHU (1)
Key booking with Bernardo Pinheiro taking the steer. Gets the inside draw and will look to take up a forward spot early. These conditions suit here.
2nd Pick: STAR EXPRESS (3)
Drops back in class where he last won in June over this same course and distance. Gets a leading jockey on for the first time and looks well placed by the stable.
3rd Pick: SANTINO (2)
Will need a touch of luck from the wide draw (8) and has run some nice timings in these conditions. If he can get in and find a back to follow, then he will get his chance.
4th Pick: ROYAL COMMISSION (5)
Just a one-time winner and caught the eye last run behind Windfall beaten just under three lengths. Has placed at 1200m but his record is stronger over shorter.
RACE 2
1st Pick: BRAVO KID (3)
Continues to run well but he has earned himself a professional placegetter name tag after three consecutive second placings. Draws well and will look a threat at the finish.
2nd Pick: LUCKY WARRIOR (1)
Comes into this three week between runs where was bumped shortly after the start and was entitled to over race as a result. Small field and looks a key player.
3rd Pick: LIM'S SARBACH (2)
Very lightly raced gelding and the team have kept him here for a reason that he is showing them promising signs back at the stable. Was given a quiet trial for this.
4th Pick: TALKINGTALKINGGURU (4)
If he can dig and find some of his best form from earlier this year, he can be a key player for the quartets. Drops back sharply in distance for this weekend.
RACE 3
1st Pick: ELLIOT NESS (2)
Big win last time out, sat outside the leader, Surrey Hills and blew his rivals away in a few strides. He’s come back bigger and better this campaign and looks to repeat that performance this week. Small field, one to beat.
2nd Pick: SURREY HILLS (1)
He stuck on nicely last start behind Elliot Ness, should look to push forward from barrier one and could be a danger here. Apprentice Seow claims two kilograms.
3rd Pick: V'INVINCIBLE (8)
He does his best work late in the piece, worked home from the tail last start and didn’t get a clean run. Could surprise in this field.
4th Pick: PACIFIC COMMANDER (4)
Always been a prominent sprinter for the leading Ong Stable and Daniel Moor rides again. He should get every chance from barrier four but needs to lift his form.
RACE 4
1st Pick: CONDOR (2)
Has been dropping down the ratings and finds himself in class five for the first time. He has finished behind some talented class four winners and expect strong betting support.
2nd Pick: LONHRO GOLD (4)
1000m specialist who will get burning early from barrier nine. Queiroz has a terrific record on this old boy and looked sharp in his recent trial. Keep him safe.
3rd Pick: FAST AND FEARLESS (3)
Has some handy stats at the course and distance and sits one point higher in the ratings than his last win back in June. Daniel Moor has won on him in the past.
4th Pick: BABY TWINS (1)
This former UK trained entire is a real speedster early in his races. He contested quality races in Europe and now finds himself in a class five at Kranji. Watch for any support.
RACE 5
1st Pick: TOMMY GUN (1)
Things didn’t go to plan last start in class 4, sat up on speed, off a hot tempo and faded when coming into the straight. Should look to bounce back here. He’s had two recent trials which have been okay.
2nd Pick: CHEVAL PEGASUS (7)
Was caught a long back last time around behind Big Return, never came into the race and should appreciate the smaller field this week. Draws low for Bruno Queiroz.
3rd Pick: LIM'S SHAVANO (3)
He’s been in great form of late, he loves to get out and run and he won his maiden impressively last time out on the all-weather Poly track. Had a recent trial.
4th Pick: LEGEND SIXTY-THREE (6)
Strong first-up effort two starts back behind Lim’s Shavano and he held his form last start breaking through for the Legacy Power Racing stable. He meets tougher opposition here but could surprise.
RACE 6
1st Pick: EMPOWERING (3)
Looking to make it three straight wins in class 5, he showed great acceleration last start when flashing home defeating stablemate Shihab. He will find it harder this week but is in great form.
2nd Pick: FOREST GOLD (6)
Was flying home last start behind Ben’s Champion over 1600m and now goes to 2000m where his only had the one placings. CC Wong now takes the ride, and he had a recent trial on the 19th.
3rd Pick: PACIFIC DREAM (11)
Still a maiden here in Singapore but showed plenty of improvement last start when getting into a minor placing.
4th Pick: LIM'S EVEREST (4)
He’s had a small break since the second to Empowering, had every chance and got shifted in the straight but stuck on well. Should get a good run from barrier five.
RACE 7
1st Pick: WIND OF DUBAI (2)
This last start winner was peaking fourth up for the preparation and showed a strong turn of foot. Visiting Aussie jockey Will Price has been booked and can go back-to-back here.
2nd Pick: MAY (4)
Just the one win to his name and has run some positive races recently without placing. Our leading apprentice should be able to position him up nicely from the draw.
3rd Pick: STAR VICTORY (3)
This five-time winner is quite versatile and looks well placed here to run a big race. He now sits two points lower in the ratings than his last win back in June.
4th Pick: LIM'S FUJI (1)
Looking to see if he can replicate that turn of foot, he displayed two starts ago on the turf where he was beaten 1.6 lengths to Vgor. Strong stable and rates well here.
RACE 8
1st Pick: SUPER BOWL (4)
Lines up here with career best stats at the course and distance with one win and five minors from nine starts. Leading stable and jockey combine well together.
2nd Pick: FRENETIC (2)
He was given a peach ride by Curatolo whipping around the field and catching them all napping to score well two weeks ago. Will settle back and look to finish off late yet again.
3rd Pick: PACIFIC BEAUTY (9)
Yet to win at the 1700m but her mile and 1800m stats are proven and the key factor with her is the blinkers go on for the first time. She has a tough character about her in the finish.
4th Pick: NINEONEONE (10)
Two very promising runs coming into this show he is ready to fire looking for his fifth win. He will need the pace on early to deliver his best performance. Watch for late betting.
RACE 9
1st Pick: ENERGY BABY (1)
Huge win last start in the same grade, had no luck in the straight and still had the acceleration to burst through late and win. Pinheiro stick onboard and he obtains a perfect draw in three. The one to beat.
2nd Pick: RAVALLI (5)
A progressive sprinter with plenty of ability against this opposition, he is looking to make it four straight victories but now goes up to class 3 for the first time in his career in Singapore. He relishes 1200m and should look for cover from barrier seven.
3rd Pick: LIM'S BIGHORN (4)
A noted front-runner in this field. He loves to get out and run and should do that from the inside gate. He demolished his opposition when dropping back to class 4 last start. Now he comes back into class 3 and is well-weighted.
4th Pick: ANIKI (2)
He’s been running well in class 3 without winning. He led the field up last time in the same race behind Energy baby and Bruno Queiroz stays onboard this week. He will look to push forward and lead with Lim’s Bighorn.
RACE 10
1st Pick: LAST SUPPER (3)
Had a tough run last start in the same race behind Ravalli, he got shuffled back after the start and was a long way off the leaders turning for home. He should bounce back here and be hard to beat.
2nd Pick: JIN SAKAMOTO (1)
Solid win last start, didn’t handle the corner that well but kicked away at the 200m and never looked like stopping. In-form jockey Pinheiro stays in the saddle and draws perfectly in barrier four.
3rd Pick: PACIFIC ATLANTIC (4)
Impressive win last start, got a beautiful run in transit and won easily. Now he draws out wide and will need to look for cover. He meets tougher opposition here.
4th Pick: GOLDEN BROWN (5)
A consistent place getter in this grade and always finds one better on the day. He should get a soft run barrier one.
