Bettors familiar with the story of The Wizard Of Oz will be familiar with the fact that to find the wizard, Dorothy is told to “follow the yellow brick road”.
That was later picked by Elton John in his song, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.
Well, to gain that good fortune offered by the yellow brick road, punters would be well advised to follow Vaughan Marshall’s (pictured above) Yellowporscheroad in Race 1 today at Kenilworth, a Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1000m.
Of the nine runners, only three have racing experience and it looks as if Yellowporscheroad is the one to beat.
This Pomodoro colt found only one better on his recent debut and should come on nicely with that experience gained.
While that form line has not been tested, it does seem that the winner of that race, Charles Dickens, is a promising sort. Judged on the winning time of that race, Yellowporscheroad doesn’t need much improvement to exit the maidens on his second attempt.
Anton Marcus takes the ride for a large group of prominent owners who will need to erect a marquee if they all arrive at Kenilworth to celebrate a victory.
In Race 3, a Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1400m, Canford Lights trained by Candice Bass-Robinson gets the nod. This son of Canford Cliffs is improving in leaps and bounds.
In his last outing when stepping up to 1400m, he quickened nicely to finish just ahead of re-opposing Last Storm over the course and distance. From a good draw Canford Lights can go one better.
It must also be noted that he had excuses last time out when inconvenienced, but nevertheless ran on well to finish just 1.25-lengths behind Marvel William.
