Dotty For Lawrence At Ayr

Dorothy Lawrence appears to have been found a gilt-edged opportunity to open her account at Ayr.

It says plenty about the regard in which the daughter of Soldier's Call is held that she was a hot favourite to make a winning start to her career at Newmarket's Craven meeting in April.

Her supporters were ultimately left counting their losses, but Karl Burke's filly shaped with plenty of promise in finishing second to Persian Dreamer, who recently stamped her class on the Group Two Duchess of Cambridge Stakes.

Since that initial effort Dorothy Lawrence has been placed twice in Listed company, going down narrowly to stablemate Got To Love A Grey in the Marygate at York before finishing third in France last month.

She has far less on her plate in the Irish EBF Maiden Stakes and there will be some long faces in the Burke camp if she is unable to break her duck.

Ghadbbaan will not be winning out of turn if he can land the opening Every Race Live On Racing TV Apprentice Handicap.

Mark Walford has run the seven-year-old over distances ranging from a mile and a half to two and a quarter miles this season without success, but he has been placed in four of his five races.

The handicapper has given him every chance by dropping him 4lb since the start of the campaign and this one-mile-five-furlong trip with a little ease in the ground might be the perfect combination.

Decoration will take some stopping as she bids for a second successive course-and-distance win at Windsor in the British EBF Premier Fillies' Handicap.

Following decent efforts at Kempton in November and Salisbury in June, Roger Varian's three-year-old made it third time lucky here three weeks ago when accounting for subsequent Wolverhampton winner Value Added by three-quarters of a length.

The daughter of Frankel remains open to further progress ahead of her handicap debut and an opening mark of 80 may underestimate her potential.

Freak Out can complete a Beverley hat-trick in the Churchill Tyres Handicap.

The five-year-old has raced exclusively at the Westwood on turf this year and following a couple of readying runs, he made all the running here at the end of June.

He looked to have a bit up his sleeve when doubling up little over a fortnight ago and a 3lb hike does not look insurmountable.
