Dora to strike on the Polytrack

Miss Dora has the perfect opportunity to get out of the maiden ranks at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday.

The Kom Naidoo-trained filly has had three excellent performances on the Polytrack and will no doubt enjoy returning to that surface in Race 1, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1200m.

She has raced four times on this track, all but one of them over 1200m, and has notched up three close thirds, and a 0.10-length defeat behind Maggie Tee last time.  

This daughter of Pomodoro looks ready to win and in a weakish field stands out as the best bet on a somewhat tricky card. Kabelo Matsunyane takes the ride.

The main danger to Miss Dora looks to be Captain Of All filly Fort J’Adore who was only beaten 0.70 lengths by Miss Dora in her last start. However, that race was over 1000m and Miss Dora did produce the fastest finish. She is better over 1200m but it would be a good idea to take Exactas with Wendy Whitehead-trained Fort J’Adore.

Whitehead has some decent runners on the card and the stable is in hot form so she should have a couple of winners. Gelsomina looks a decent runner in Race 2, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1600m. She had her first race on the Polytrack last time out and showed good pace, to finish a 1.90-lengths second behind Sayulita.

She could well go one better this time with Calvin Habib taking the ride once again.
