Don't Tell Su can reward Hereford support

January 2025

Don't Tell Su can make a successful switch to the larger obstacles in the Star Sports Novices' Limited Handicap Chase at Hereford on Monday.

The Paul Nicholls-trained seven-year-old has picked up the silver medal three times in succession since opening his account over jumps in a maiden hurdle at Wincanton in March of last year and is due a change of fortune.

He kicked off this season by finishing second at Sandown behind Act Of Authority, who has won again since and is now rated 134, while last time out Don't Tell Su was best of the rest behind an in-form rival in Mr Hope Street, who did not do much wrong in finishing second himself at Newbury over Christmas.

Don't Tell Su has always looked the type to do better once sent chasing and a mark of 120 looks workable for his first attempt.

HMS President is of obvious interest in the starsports.bet Handicap Hurdle.

The 99-rated Flat performer has only run three times over hurdles and has run well on each occasion.

He outclassed his rivals when opening his jumping account at Kempton in November and was only narrowly denied under a penalty at Huntingdon last month.

As long as conditions do not deteriorate too much, HMS President looks well treated on his handicap debut over obstacles with a rating of 125.

Squiggles looks well placed to land the Southern Cranes Mares' Handicap Hurdle at Plumpton for James Owen and leading amateur Alex Chadwick.

After finishing second on her first two starts of the season, the Soldier Of Fortune mare came good with a determined success at Doncaster in mid-December.

A 5-point rise does not look insurmountable for a horse who should still progress following just five lifetime starts including her point-to-point win.

Fantastikas is the pick in the Tysers Handicap Chase.

The Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained veteran was rated as high as 144 in his pomp, but is able to compete in this off just 119.

He is obviously not the force he once was, but he has performed well in defeat on his last couple of starts and with Toby McCain-Mitchell taking a further 7lb off his back, he should go well.

Top Of The Class is rated the best bet at Wolverhampton as she looks to regain the winning thread in the £1M With BetMGM's Golden Goals Fillies' Handicap.

A dual winner at Kempton last year for Mark Loughnane, she disappointed on her final start of 2024, but was subsequently found to have bled.

After 117 days off, she bounced back to form when second at Kempton recently, teeing her up for another big performance in the hands of Luke Morris. - Press Association
