Domeyer can be all the rage in the Cape

With the Cape season coming to its peak, trainer Candice Bass’ yard has followed suit and the stable, along with first-choice jockey Aldo Domeyer, have started to churn out winners.

Bass has 10 carded runners at Sunday’s meeting at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth and Domeyer will be aboard four of them. All four them have winning chances but the best of the quartet looks to be All The Rage who line up in Race 6, a Class 3 Handicap over 1200m.

This three-year-old Rafeef colt is highly regarded by the stable and the six runs so far have resulted in three wins and three third places.

He was, if you’ll pardon the pun, all the rage to win his last race, the Listed Sophomore Sprint over this course and distance. He was sent out a 9-10 favourite but after looking dangerous 200m from home, he became one paced and finished third, 1.20 lengths behind Green Gateway.

However, he is better than that and perhaps the loss could be put down to that run being his second back from a layoff.

All The Rage will strip a lot fitter this time and stands put as the best bet on the card.

Domeyer has also picked up a decent ride for trainer Andre Nel in Race 2, where he rides Volegov in this Maiden Plate over 1200m. This Querari gelding has improved with each start and finished third last time out behind the useful Give It Laldy.

He only tired late that day, and Domeyer will be doing his best to improve on farther Andrew Fortune’s second place on the gelding this time.
