Golightly to extend her unbeaten run on the Polytrack in the Walmer Handicap.
The character of Holly Golightly was created by Truman Capote in his novella Breakfast At Tiffany’s. She is someone who doesn’t really care who she inconveniences in order to get what she wants.
While these may not be seen as good traits in a person, they are great qualities for a racehorse and her equine namesake could strike for trainer Alan Greeff in the Walmer Handicap (Non-Black Type) over 1800m on the Fairview Polytrack on Friday.
Greeff saddles five of the nine runners but it is usually best to go with stable jockey Greg Cheyne in these situations and he is on improving Golightly.
Greeff can put this filly into his résumé of successes as she came to him having won only once in 12 starts and in terrible form.
In just six starts since her arrival, the Gimmethegreenlight filly has won four times and was an unlucky loser on one other occasion.
One could also completely forgive her local debut as she was given a 1000m sprint which was clearly way too sharp for her.
Golightly steps up in distance as most of her wins have come over the 1600m, but she is unbeaten in three starts on the Polytrack, and although she takes on her toughest opposition to date, she should be up to it.
Ideal Angel and Vision On Ice fought out the finish in a handicap over 1900m recently and both are improving.
Ideal Angel is better weighted this time which suggests she could turn the tables on that rival but Vision On Ice does like the surface and Ideal Angel could be at her very best on the turf.
Warren Kennedy takes the ride on Gavin Snaith-trained Vision Of Ice and although 2kg out at the weights, does carry just 52kg and definitely will see out the distance.
