Conditions favour Royal Victory

Royal Victory has not won since January when he ran out a facile victory in the Grade 3 Tony Ruffel Stakes over 1400m at Turffontein.

He then got touched off in the Grade 2 World Sports Betting Gauteng Guineas over 1600m by Eye Of The Prophet after which he lost his form.

There is little doubt 1400m is his best distance and the Nathan Kotzen-trained runner can end his disappointing run when he lines up in Race 4 at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1400m.

Last time out he finished a 2.75-length eighth behind Seeking The Stars over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville and at the same weights as they all carried in that race, Royal Victory should not be able to turn the table with the winner, second-placed Queue Wing and seventh-placed Mr Master Starter.

However, he is a far better performer on the turf at Greyville and the additional 200m will make all the difference, so he should be able to beat all of them third time.

He is perfectly drawn at No 3 and will have Calvin Habib up.

The main threat could come from Money Heist who showed a glimpse of his earlier form when a 0.30-length second behind Captain Bombshell in the Non-Black Type Durban Dash over 1100m at this course in his first race after having been gelded.

He, too, will benefit from the extra distance and from No 4 draw this four-year-old son of Gimmethegreenlight will go close.
