Selangor racing continues on Sunday featuring a thrilling nine-race card with highly competitive action expected throughout the day.

Antipodean and Golden Pegasus delivered a thrilling showdown in last month’s G1 Selangor Gold Cup, providing the quinella. The two will face off again this Sunday in the 1400m G3 Sports Toto Supreme Challenge at Selangor.

Antipodean, with an impressive Malaysian record of eight wins from nine starts, narrowly claimed victory by a head in their last encounter and remains undefeated in two outings over 1400m distance.

In contrast, Golden Pegasus finished as the runner-up in a 1700m race a fortnight later, but he appears better suited to the shorter distance.

Additionally, last year’s Penang Sprint Trophy winner, Berry Bliss, previously defeated

Golden Pegasus, suggesting he will also be a formidable contender in this race.

Evergreen galloper Modric looks an interesting runner in Race 2. His last start is best overlooked, as he showed little towards the rear throughout. Instead, focus on his prior form, where he tracked the pace and stayed on strongly to score a comfortable win in this class five starts ago. As a seven-time winner in Class 5, an improved performance wouldn’t be surprising if he shows early intent.

In Race 3, former Singapore galloper Rambo appears to be a strong contender. He caught the eye with an encouraging performance on his Malaysia debut 22 days ago, when he was forced to settle off the speed before letting down sharply in the straight to finish fifth over 1020m.

Benefiting from the added distance second-up, he looks one to watch as he boasts strong form lines in Class 4 at Kranji. - iRACE Magazine
