Cinderella's Dream to shine in Sun Chariot

A return to home turf can see Cinderella's Dream secure her second Group One victory of the season in the BetMGM Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.

Charlie Appleby's ultra-consistent filly bagged the top-level triumph in Britain she deserved when landing the Falmouth Stakes on the July course during the summer and she was brilliant on her most recent visit to the Rowley Mile, dominating her rivals in the Dahlia Stakes in May.

She came up a little short on her most recent appearance in the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville, but perhaps the 2000m on an easy French surface stretched her stamina.

Coming back to 1600m on what should be quick ground provided the rain stays away from Headquarters, Cinderella's Dream is preferred to her hat-trick seeking market rival Fallen Angel, who appears to prefer a little more give underfoot.

The lightly-raced Hot Flame should go well in the British Stallion Studs EBF Premier Fillies' Handicap.

The daughter of Too Darn Hot looked an exciting prospect after winning on her only juvenile start at Yarmouth but has only made it to the track twice this season.

There was not too much wrong with her comeback second at Newmarket and she duly built on that when making every yard of the running and winning with plenty in hand on her handicap debut at Haydock.

A 4lb rise for that emphatic victory looks more than fair, particularly as there is every chance the step up to 2400m will bring about further improvement.

Half Sovereign is another filly on the rise ahead of the £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes.

Karl Burke's youngster has rattled off four successive wins since finishing fourth on her debut on ground varying from good to firm to good to soft.

Her purchase price of just 12,000 guineas means she gets into this valuable sales race off a light weight and she should prove hard to beat for a trainer who can do little wrong in this division.

Burke might also be among the winners at Ascot, with his Beautiful Diamond a major contender for the BetMGM Rous Stakes.

While the end of the season is fast approaching, this four-year-old should be fresher than most after just two outings in 2025 so far.

She struggled in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket in the spring, but bounced back on her return from the summer off when fairly bolting up in a Listed event at Ayr a fortnight ago.

Beautiful Diamond has run well at Ascot in the past, including when picking up the silver medal in this race 12 months ago, and she is fancied to go one better on her return this weekend.

Prince Of India might be able to the turn the tables on Elmonjed in the Group Three John Guest Racing Bengough Stakes.

Rated just 76 at the start of the season, Marco Botti's Prince Of India has made giant strides since, with lucrative wins at Newmarket and at the Shergar Cup over this course and distance seeing his mark rise to three figures.

He stepped up to Listed class for York's Garrowby Stakes four weeks ago and was only beaten a length by the reopposing Elmonjed, with the sharp 1200m on Town Moor appearing to catch him out.

Back on a stiffer track, Prince Of India can exact his revenge under Jamie Spencer, who rides Ascot's straight course better than most.

There are two Listed events to look forward to at Redcar, with the William Hill Two Year Old Trophy followed by the Racing TV EBF Stallions Guisborough Stakes.

Clive Cox's Song Of The Clyde sets a lofty standard in the former after winning and finishing second in a couple of valuable sales races, while Kevin Ryan's Volterra can notch a second win over the course and distance in the latter event. - Press Association
