Chat with Crawford’s Kitty Cat

Trainer Brett Crawford has some decent exposed horses in his yard and he could have another who is less exposed in Kitty Cat Chat.
This Ridgemont-owned Australian-bred filly looked to have some ability when winning on debut in September, easily accounting for Perfect Princess by 2.25 lengths over 1250m at Durbanville.
She was obviously showing something at home because after an opening call of 7-1, she went off at 14-10 and could not have been more impressive.
Two horses from that form line won their next races – fourth and fifth-placed Marmalisa and Ma Black respectively. Both then went on to contest the Grade 2 Western Cape Fillies Championship.
Runner-up Perfect Princess, while not winning her next start, has since won her maiden, further franking the form.
Kitty Cat Chat lines up in Race 5 at Kenilworth on Wednesday a FM 89 Handicap over 1000m, and despite the rise in class and drop in trip, this daughter of Press Statement looks one to follow.
Although a relatively new sire (Kitty Cat Chat, born in 2017, was from his first crop), the progeny of Press Statement appear to be at their best between 1000m and 1400m although it is probably too early to gather an accurate assessment.
She carries just 54.5kg and the fact Anton Marcus is prepared to get down to ride her at that weight, speaks volume for her ability.
Jockey Aldo Domeyer has some good rides and he is worth following in Race 2, where he rides Paul reeves-trained Skidoo, and Race 3 where he rides well-bred Captain Who.
The pick of his rides could be High Moon in Race 4 over 1700m. He should improve with age but looks ready to exit the maidens.
