CHAMPIONS AT IT AGAIN

December 2025

HENK STEENKAMP

The top sprinters Fairy Knight and Cruise Control, both East Cape champions in their own right, will resume rivalry at the Fairview Polytrack on Monday.

They should fight it out for the win in what looks like a very competitive and exciting Pinnacle Stakes over 1200m - race 5 at 14:55.

Fairy Knight (Alan Greeff) was an impressive winner of the Non-Black Type November Stakes over 1400m.

If this honest son of Global View can produce another run like that he will be a tough horse to beat with Richard Fourie in the saddle.

Fairy Knight has won three races and finished second once from as many starts over track and trip, which will make his fans even more confident of a 12th career victory.

The speedy Cruise Control (Smith) will be quick out of the stalls and ready to fight with Luyolo Mxothwa aboard.

He has a solid record over track and trip and the yard believes Cruise “will be very competitive.”

It is his second run after a layoff, but that is usually not a problem in the Smith stable.

These two should fight it out, but it will be interesting to see what capable challengers like Cliff Top, Dubai Hills and Roman Agent can produce to make this a spectacular race.

Greeff and Fourie could get punters off to a winning start in the first race where the filly Amanatto should get it right this time in a Maiden Plate over 1200m - the first leg of the Bipot at 12:30.

Warrior’s Edge (Juan Nel) is the horse to beat in the second race, a Maiden Plate over 1600m which is the start of the Place Accumulator at 13:05.

The Pick Six at Fairview is not always easy to catch but followers of the Greeff stable will look at Fairy Knight (race 5, leg 3) and Hoerikwaggo (race 7, leg 5) as possible bankers.
