Jockey Anton Marcus and Capitana have formed a successful partnership and they look set to enhance that reputation when they line up in Race 4 at Kenilworth on Saturday.
Marcus has ridden the filly three times for two wins and a second, and this MR 92 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1200m should be ideal for the daughter of Captain Al.
Brett Crawford’s charge has been ultra-consistent since she started racing and her six runs have yielded three wins, two seconds and a fourth place on debut.
She looks to be getting better with each run and she proved that last time when finishing a 0.50-length second behind Grade 1 winner Clouds Unfold in a Conditions Plate for fillies and mares.
She carries just 55kg and will prove very hard to oppose.
Once you look past her the race is wide open but Dark Crystal and Boomps A Daisy should fight out the minor places.
Aldo Domeyer has some decent rides at this meeting and there are two in particular to take note of.
His first carded ride comes up in Race 2 where he is reunited with Adam Marcus-trained Captain Who in this Maiden Plate over 1400m.
He was aboard this Captain Al colt, the first offspring of Galileo mare Untoward, when he finished second over 1200m last time out. Given his pedigree, Captain Who will relish the step up in trip and, with the expected improvement, Marcus’ charge should shed his maiden tag.
Springisintheair may well make it a double for Domeyer in Race 6, a MR 90 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1600m. This well-bred daughter of Duke Of Marmalade has consistently held her own in stronger company.
The Candice Bass-Robinson-trained filly was third in a better race over this course and distance when last seen and a repeat of that effort should bring about a return to winning ways, and deserved third career win.
