Racing is back on the Polytrack at Fairview on Friday and the card overall looks quite mundane. However, the big question is whether Alan Greeff and Richard Fourie can finally get Wild Fig back into the winner’s enclosure. This Fire Away gelding has become very frustrating and costly to follow recently and has been runner-up in his last three starts, the latest in a handicap over 1600m on 5 December.
He has run well over that distance, but it is worth remembering that his only win to date was over the 1400m, the distance over which he runs in Race 8, a MR 76 Handicap.
Fourie has been aboard him for all three of those runner-up performances, and it is not often he is unable to bring home at least one of three. He will no doubt be keen to set that record straight with some winning success.
