Burmese Tiara for Polytrack victory

Burmese Tiara has not had much success on the Polytrack in her two starts on the surface but she did have excuses on both occasions.

Her first was as a maiden and was over 1600m which was probably 100m too far. She led for much of the journey but was caught in closing stages to finish fifth, beaten just 2.50 lengths by Hatta. That was, nonetheless, a decent form line as two runners went on to win their next starts.

Her second race on the Polytrack was after almost a double layoff. Paul Peter’s charge went on to win her maiden in November and was then rested for three months. She came back in February to win her second start and was then out of action for a further three months.

Her comeback run was over 1400m on the Polytrack in late May and once again she faded late to finish unplaced, going down 4.50 lengths to Blackwhitedynamite.

However, her next start was on the turf at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, also over 1400m, and she ran out a convincing winner. On that occasion, although always in close attendance, she did not try to make all the running and that may have worked well for her.

Burmese Tiara returns to the Polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday to contest Race 7, a MR 75 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1400m and she has a lot going for her. She has drawn in pole position, has jockey Warren Kennedy in the irons, and there will be no doubt as to her fitness.

She has good gate speed, so if they want her to lead, she will be able to get to the front comfortably and could be able to dictate on her own terms.

The main threat is likely to come from Poppy Of Bayeux who is drawn No 2 and has decent form on the Polytrack.

Weiho Marwing makes the trip to Greyville and he does not take the journey unless he feels his charge has a winning chance.

He sends out Time Is Ticking who has only raced three times, winning her maiden by 4.50 lengths. Sean Veale will have to negotiate his mount around the track from barrier No 12 which will not be easy but one should not leave this filly out of one’s Pick 6 and Jackpots.
