Future Of Energy may be returning from a break and is trying Hollywoodbets Greyville for the first time, but it’s more than certain he will jump as short-priced favourite in Race 1, a Maiden Plate over 1400m on Sunday.
What stands out with him is the fact that he finished 2.10 lengths behind Cousin Casey the last time he ran which was in a Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1400m at Scottsville on 1 May. Not only did Cousin Casey come out to win the Grade 2 Golden Horseshoe over 1400m but went on to be crowned Equus champion juvenile after claiming the Grade 1 Premiers Champion Stakes over 1600m.
Interestingly, in that Maiden Juvenile Plate Future Of Energy produced the fastest final 400m after having landed No 11 draw of the 12 runners.
Others will need big improvement to beat him it seems, as this time Future Of Energy has landed No 3 draw and will also benefit from the 1.5kg allowance claimed by Rachel Venniker.
On the other hand, his main threat, Miraculous Man, has drawn wide.
Future Of Energy, who has been gelded since that last run, could turn the fortunes around for the Wayne Badenhorst/Barbara Kennedy team who have been having a dull spell of late.
