Brace yourself for the Lady's Slipper

Filly Splicethemainbrace has won all four starts so far and should prove hard to beat in the Listed Lady’s Slipper over 1400m on Friday.

This daughter of Master Of My Fate won on debut over 800m back in January when touching off rival in this event, Happy Holly.

She was next seen in February when giving speedy Magdala plenty of start before reeling her in and winning by an impressive two lengths over 1000m.

March came around and Splicethemainbrace was again involved in a tight finish with Happy Holly and once again just prevailed.

It was her fourth victory last month that was the most impressive of all. She took on the males over 1200m and she beat them comfortably.

On that day, the runner-up was Kingdundee and that rival went on to beat Happy Holly over 1200m earlier this month.

Jockey Richard Fourie has been aboard Alan Greeff-trained Splicethemainbrace for all four wins and the step up to 1400m should be no problem for her, in fact she should relish the trip as she has been running on strongly at the end of each race.

There is another very interesting race on this card, Race 6, a Conditions race over 2000m as the second and third finishers in the recent East Cape Derby renew their rivalry.

Filly Woman's World has made impressive progress of late and attempted to make all the running in the Derby. She was only run out of it very late by a decent filly in the form of Joy And Peace.

Woman's World will like this 2000m and she may prove hard to catch.

Public Benefit was two lengths behind her that day but was a length ahead of Woman's World when they met in March. Those results do suggest that there should not be too much between them.

However, Say Yes has had two runs since moving to the Eastern Cape and she has taken on and beaten stronger when trained by Tony Peter on the Highveld. She is now in the care of Zietsman Oosthuizen and looks ready to pick up a race or two.

Two other runners in the race deserve a mention and they are the two Greeff-trained runners, Official Secret and Gideon's Daughter

Fourie is carded to ride Official Secret who was in good from earlier this year but has been disappointing of late.

Gideon's Daughter has shown her best form on the Polytrack but that does not mean she cannot beat these rivals as she still has improvement in her.
